"As to the other allegation, it would be hard to be Jesus’ twin brother if Satan were female. Just saying…"

*snicker* ;-)

Always like your answers; they either make me think or make me chuckle. . .sometimes both!

It is an intriguing quirk of our culture - that much of what people 'think' they know about the nature of Hell and the ultimate evil entity in opposition to the God of the bible comes not from the bible itself - but from two very old poems; First, is Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy... popularly referred to as "Dante's Inferno", and Paradise Lost by John Milton.

Many attribute the quote "God helps those who help themselves." to the bible as well... but it's simply not there. In the same way, many of the ideas in these two poems have wormed their way into the collective English-speaking layman's knowledge as bible-based. But those ideas aren't necessarily so... and they certainly aren't in the bible.

People equate the names Satan or Lucifer as the same entity... but the bible doesn't do that. People think that Satan is a 'fallen angel' (whatever that means)... And he very well may be... but nobody who wrote anything in the bible ever said that. The list could go on and on and on...

I, like most people, just took these and other things for granted... even taught lessons based on them... until I accepted the idea that: "What I KNOW ain't necessarily so", and became willing to let go of what I thought was truth so I could learn how little truth I actually understand. We human beings seem to abhor a vacuum of knowledge when it exists - and therefore make inappropriate inferences or simply make up stuff just to fill the void. It's as if we just can't handle the idea that something is entirely unknowable. It's an awesome feeling to understand that I don't need to understand everything.

There is great comfort knowing that being a Christian means we'll have answers to questions like this someday. Paul Harvey wouldn't have been near as interesting without "the rest of the story."

One version does phrase it that way. While you and I would agree on the unique nature of Jesus, the Bible certainly does say that others of us can and are called the sons of God.
